Privacy Statement

How your personal information is handled when you talk to a business through Moozy, by SMS, USSD, WhatsApp, voice or the web.

Last updated: 29 June 2026         Applies to: people who use Moozy to reach a business

  • The business you are talking to decides why your information is collected and how it is used. Moozy runs the service on their behalf.
  • We process your messages, contact details and any answers you give so the business can serve you and complete what you asked for.
  • You can opt out of messages at any time, on any channel, by replying with a single word such as STOP.
  • Your information is protected, access is controlled, and we handle it in line with Botswana’s Data Protection Act.
  • The channels and payment services that carry your messages and payments are mostly providers you already deal with, reached through the same established, contracted channels the business already uses.
  • To see, correct or delete your information, contact the business you dealt with. We will help them act on your request.

Moozy is an engagement and commerce platform operated by Aga Intelligence (Pty) Ltd, based in Gaborone, Botswana. Businesses such as banks, insurers, health providers, government bodies and other organisations use Moozy to talk to their customers across SMS, USSD, WhatsApp, voice and the web.

When you send a message or complete a step through Moozy, you are dealing with one of those businesses. That business is the data controller: it decides why your personal information is collected and how it is used. Moozy acts as a data processor, handling that information only on the instructions of the business and only to deliver the service.

What this means for you: if you want to know exactly why your information was collected, or you want to access, correct or delete it, the business you interacted with is the right first point of contact. We support them in responding to you.

The information handled through Moozy depends on the service you are using and the business you are dealing with. It may include:

Type Examples
Contact details Your phone number, and where you provide it, your name and email address.
Messages and conversations The texts, chats and voice interactions you exchange with the business, including questions you ask and answers you give.
Form and survey answers Details you provide during registration, sign-up, claims, feedback or surveys.
Account and history Records the business already holds about you, so you do not have to repeat yourself, and a history of your interactions.
Payment information Records of mobile money payments, invoices and reminders. Payments are processed by mobile money and payment providers under their own terms.
Consent and channel records Whether you opted in or out, and the time and channel of each message, payment and consent.
Technical information For web interactions, basic device and browsing information, including cookies. See section 8.

Some services may involve sensitive information, for example in health or financial contexts. Where that happens, it is handled with additional care and only where the business has a lawful basis to do so.

Your information is used to deliver the service the business has set up. Typical purposes include:

  • Understanding your message and replying in your own words and language.
  • Recognising who you are so you do not have to repeat information already on record.
  • Completing what you asked for, such as registering you, answering a question, updating a detail, booking a date or taking a payment.
  • Sending reminders, follow-ups and updates related to the service.
  • Passing your conversation to a member of the business’s team when a question needs a person.
  • Keeping an accurate record of messages, consents and payments for the business and its auditors or regulators.

Moozy does not sell your personal information, and does not use it for its own marketing.

Businesses using Moozy are required to obtain your consent before messaging you, and to respect your choices.

  • Opting in: you choose to start or agree to a conversation before a business sends you messages.
  • Opting out: you can stop messages at any time, on any channel, with a single word such as STOP. Your choice is recorded and applied.
  • Replying to a person: you can ask to speak to a member of the business’s team at any point.

Standard message and data charges from your mobile operator may apply, depending on the channel you use.

Your information is shared only as needed to run the service:

  • The business you are dealing with, which controls your information.
  • Service providers that power the channels, such as your mobile network operator and the SMS, USSD, WhatsApp and voice services that carry messages. In most cases these are providers you already deal with, reached through the same established, contracted channels the business already uses with them.
  • Payment providers, such as the mobile money service you already use, to process any payments you make. Payments run over the same secure channels and agreements already in place between the business and the provider.
  • Technology providers that help operate the platform securely, under contracts that require them to protect your information.
  • Authorities or regulators, where the business is legally required to disclose information.

We do not share your information with anyone else for their own purposes.

Moozy is built for regulated work where trust is not optional. Protections include:

  • Sensitive details are protected and access is controlled, so only authorised people can see your information.
  • Each business’s data is kept separate from every other business on the platform.
  • Every message, consent and payment is recorded with its time and channel, creating a full audit trail.
  • The service is designed so that answers stay within the rules each business sets.

No system can promise perfect security, but we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your information safe.

Your information is kept for as long as the business needs it to provide the service and to meet its legal, audit and regulatory obligations. Retention periods are set by the business as data controller. When information is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised.

When you use Moozy through a website, cookies and similar technologies may be used to store or access information on your device, for example to remember your preferences or understand how the site is used. You can manage your choices through the consent options shown on the site, and not consenting may affect some features.

Under Botswana’s Data Protection Act, and depending on your circumstances, you have rights over your personal information. These may include the right to:

  • Ask what information is held about you and get a copy of it.
  • Have inaccurate information corrected.
  • Ask for your information to be deleted, where there is no legal reason to keep it.
  • Object to or restrict certain uses of your information.
  • Withdraw consent you previously gave.

Because the business is the data controller, please direct these requests to the business you interacted with. If you contact us, we will pass your request on and help them respond.

We may update this statement from time to time as the service or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Significant changes will be reflected here.
